In water and Wastewater treatment processes we often come across different types of chemical treatment at different phases.
For example For Effluent treatment three major chemicals are required for primary Chemical Treatment i.e. Alum or ferric alum or ferric sulphate, Polyelectrolyte and Lime or Caustic Soda.
With variation in the Effluent pH and TSS level, these chemicals are dosed according to calculation after Jar Testing.Polyelectrolyte is a High Density Branched Chain polymer which helps in the flocs formation or more specifically it converts micro flocs to macro flocs by increasing specific density of suspended particles through attachement. Greater Surface area of Ploy Electrolyte helps to achieve this process. So Primary Chemical Treatment includes mainly two component, i.e. 1. Coagulant 2.
Flocculant. Alum and Lime comese under coagulant and poly electrolyte comes under flocculant type. In the Secondary Biological Process the Effective Microbial Solution is required for proper maintenance of Bacterial Population.
In the Tertiary Treatment Process the Hypo chlorite dosing is required for disinfection and odour removal purpose.
