As per Section-22 of Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution ) Act, 1981, persons carrying on industry which is in air pollution control devices are discharging flue gases readings and the pollutants are in exceeds the standards of the Pollution Control Board, shall have to bring the level of these air pollutants below the standard values. In view of the statutory provision an appropriate air pollution control devices is required for complying with the requirement and hence the unit installed a Fabric Filter Bag House type air pollution control devices.
The air pollution control devices installed for control of dust from the flue gas emissions from the lead smelting furnaces is a combination of the devices:-
The hot & dust laden gases from the furnace first enter the Gravity Chamber, where the large particles comes with flue gases gets settled down under gravity. The flue gases after passing from Gravity Chambers will enter to the cyclones. The gases enter the cyclone coaxially and are tangential motion. As a result, the gases rotate inside centrifugally & take a no. of turns. In the process due to centrifugal force action, dusts thrown towards wall & then slides down. Particles above 5micron size are collected at an efficiency of above 90%. The dust gets stored in the hopper below from which it can be taken out periodically.
The gases containing remaining extremely fine dust particles can be arrested only with the help of Bag Filter House. During selection of bags, the temperature of the gases is to be taken in to account. For increasing the life of the bags as well as for better operation, it is advisable to cool down the temperature of the hot gases. There are so many ways by which temperature of the gases can be brought down. It may be direct cooling arrangement or an indirect cooling arrangement.This is a important air pollution control devices.
The conventional methods of cooling the gases are by providing quenching chambers, water spray, water jacketed indirect cooling, heat exchangers or by forced cooling by cool atmospheric air.
The cooled gas enters the I.D. Fan of required capacity. The I.D. Fan is driven by a motor of appropriate capacity through V-belt pulley drive arrangement. The I.D. Fan Sucks required quantity of gases from the rotary drum and takes care of pressure drops resistance of gas flow across the cyclone, Bag Filter House & duct line. Taking into consideration of all the above the I.D Fan selection is made accordingly.
The Bag Filter House comprises of a bottom hopper (air tight ) base plate with required nos. of holes fitted with socket on which filter bags are clamped and at the top of the bags are suspended with hooks. A shaker frame is fitted at half the bag length which is provided with a hammer type arrangement mounted with a shaft. The shaft is to be rotated with V-belt pulley arrangement. The shaft is to be rotated for a minute during every cleaning. The hammer hit the anvils, as deposited dust gets loose and falls in the bottom hopper from which the dust can be taken out into gunny bags by opening the air rotary valves.All air pollution control devices used different for different categories.

By reducing the dust load on the higher efficiency final collector, a more economical final collection may be chosen and a longer collector life can be obtained.
